BEST AFL GRAND FINAL SPECIALS:
The countdown is on. The 2017 AFL Granny is just over a week away. And although Victorian teams have let us down this year with the potential of none making the final, there are still plenty of bars with good deals to entice you out of the house on what should be a glorious Spring Saturday.
Multiple screens (even outside) playing the game, means you will be able to sit by yourself in a corner and STILL not miss a mark at the Northcote Social Club on September 30. They’ve promised plenty of drink specials for the entire day which they insist will keep you “adequately watered without doshing out $12983 per pint like you might at the MCG” they declare on their website. They are also slinging their burger specials all day which apparently Bruce has described as “delicious”. They suggest booking a table because they are more confident than the Richmond Army that they WILL draw a big crowd; this could also be due to their coveted $100 meat tray able to be won in their raffle!
Leinster Arms have gone loco. Free beer until the first goal, free half time food and $7 pints 2pm to 5pm.
Shaw Davey Slum have 7 screens, a projector and happy hour from 5-8pm, then 9-12am!
Fitzroy Social have multiple screens and our large projector Jugs from $15 all day $20 lunch + drink menu, Happy Hour 5-8pm!
It’s funky and suave to say the least, so the fact that the Aviary in North Richmond, $2 pots of Furphy till first score, $5 pints of Bodriggy Bruno Bitter from first bounce till the keg runs out, ‘not your usual sausage sizzle’ out the back, meat tray raffle, games, prizes and good times, you'll need to get in early!
The Richmond Club Hotel are starting early! 9am-12pm, $95 per person Breakfast + a 3 hour beverage package. Ideal for those going to the game.
The Auburn Hotel have a $8 happy hour from 11am-12pm so catch every second of the game on one of our 14 screens playing the match live and loud!
At the Terminus Hotel, for $100pp you can have a centimetre perfect package upstairs with roaming canapés and beverages from 12pm-5pm.
Early morning start (11am) with a Happy Hour that is going to be lasting a lot longer than one hour – until kick-off to be precise. If you like free things (who doesn’t?) then you will NOT want to miss free pots of Carlton Draught from the first bounce until the first point, so if I was you I’d be camping outside from 7pm Friday night. They’ve got speciality burgers to keep your hunger at bay all day, including the ‘Greedy Sheedy’ which is a mix between a burger and a meat pie. I’m not too sure about the sound of that, so please go and try it for me. There will be a DJ spinning some tracks after the game, suggesting that the Grosvenor Hotel may become your home from Friday Night until Sunday Morning.
The Palace Hotel Open at 11am and putting on a $15 BBQ available all day to go with their 8 screens.
The Railway Hotel in South Melbourne are going nuts with a $35 all-you-can-eat BBQ!
The Wayside Inn have – $5 Schooners, $5 Wines, $5 Spirits, Half price bar snacks, $2 Oysters, $25 all you can eat carvery, $10 Cocktail jugs.
When they are promising a pie and a pint at half time for only $15, it’s hard not to miss an opportunity like that. Heaps of screens to see every angle and when it’s in the heart of the city you are so close to the transport hubs for when you are definitely NOT driving home. Drink specials galore and they are even taking group bookings (yippee!) Then after the game you can stay and enjoy the music or step outside and the whole CBD world is your oyster.
The Royal Melbourne once again hosts the legend that is Warwick Capper. $65 for drinks only package plus some added entertainment and competitions throughout the day
The Asian Beer Café has Jugs from $15 all day, $5 pizzas all day, $15 Lunch Menu 11am-3pm, Happy Hour 4pm-8pm.
Doors open at 11 so yes, we are allowing you to start drinking before it’s even hit midday. Boasting a riverside mega screen and 8 plasmas, don’t go here if you are not intending to watch the game. $20 bucks for a pizza and a Furphy pot or $8 for a pint, The Wharf will undoubtedly draw crowds for those looking for a view on and off the screen. As well as that, they aren’t charging any entry fee (huge bonus) and are kicking off some live bands and music straight after the final siren, so if your team loses you can drown out the sound of your sobs by head-banging to some classic tunes!!
